Trainable skills & Traits

In HORSY V2, every horse has a unique performance profile shaped by eight trainable skills. These attributes directly affect a horse’s performance during races and are a key component of long-term progression and strategy.

Each skill can be upgraded in increments of 0.5 stars, with a maximum of 5 stars per skill. Training requires $HORSY tokens, and every upgrade is a permanent improvement to the NFT. Once trained, a skill is locked to the horse for life, and will remain active even when the NFT is sold or transferred. This makes trained horses more valuable on the secondary market, particularly when optimized for certain race types or strategies.

🧬 How Training Works

Training is initiated by the player and processed on-chain. The cost of each upgrade scales depending on the current level of the skill. For example, moving from 0 → 0.5 stars is cheaper than moving from 4.0 → 4.5.

Players can choose to specialize their horse by focusing on a few core stats or create well-rounded racers with balanced attributes. There is no fixed build path — it’s up to you.

🎭 NFT Traits & Boosts

In addition to trainable skills, every HORSY NFT comes with a unique combination of visual traits that aren’t just cosmetic — they offer real, gameplay-affecting boosts.

Each horse is composed of layered traits. These traits are assigned at mint and stored on-chain as part of the horse’s metadata. Based on the rarity and the type traits , each horse receives a set of permanent passive boosts that influence race performance.

For example:

• Ahorse with a golden crown might receive a slight bonus to Endurance

• One with a flaming aura could gain a small Speed boost

These trait-based boosts are baked into the horse's identity — they cannot be changed, removed, or re-rolled, making rare and well-composed horses highly sought after both in gameplay and on the secondary market.

The precise boost formulas and calculations are still being finalized and will be made publicly available as we approach the official V2 launch. These mechanics are designed to ensure a deep, strategic layer where preparation and planning matter as much as luck.
